Dimitrious Stanley, a former wide receiver for Ohio State, died at the age of 48 after fighting prostate cancer. After being diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2019, he had been fighting it for four years. His death is being mourned by the Ohio State football family. Thursday, his death was announced by the football coach at Thomas Worthington High School, Mike Picetti.
In a message on Twitter, he said, “It is with great sadness that I tell you that Cardinal Great Dimitrious Stanley has gone home to be with our Lord.” “Please say prayers for Jessica and Dakota, his daughter. Sleep well, my friend.”

Dimitrious Stanley played football for Ohio State from 1993 to 1996. His best season was his senior year when he caught 43 passes for 829 yards and eight touchdowns to lead the team. He finished his college career with 63 catches for 1,136 yards and 13 touchdowns. The Rose Bowl was the highlight of his college career.
Stanley caught five passes for 124 yards and a touchdown in that famous game against Arizona State to end the 1996 season. He caught a touchdown pass from 72 yards away in the third quarter to give Ohio State a 14-10 lead over the Sun Devils. He also caught two important passes on third down during the game-winning drive that gave the Buckeyes a 20-17 victory.
After his football career ended, Stanley ran for Columbus city council, worked for a home health company, and called Ohio State football games as a broadcaster.

Stanley played for the Ohio State Buckeyes for three years. After that, he played in the Canadian Football League and the Arena Football League for three years. He also worked on the show “The Football Fever” on WSYX ABC 6 before Ohio State games.
