Previously Bill was married to Kaye Cowher. They tied the knot in April of 1983 after a long courtship. They remained a couple until Kaye’s unexpected death on July 23, 2010. Bill Cower lost his wife at the age of 54 to skin cancer.

Kaye Cowher played basketball at the collegiate and professional levels. She was a member of the North Carolina State Board of Visitors, which provided guidance to the university’s chancellor and board of trustees, until her untimely passing. Meagan Lyn, Lauren Marie, and Lindsay Morgan were their offsprings. She was kind, loving, and private, and she was devoted to her family.
