‘It Was Time To Move On,’ Says Colin Firth Of His Divorce From His Wife Of Two Years

While Colin Firth and his wife Livia did everything they could to keep their marriage together, reports say they eventually concluded it was time to go on.

After 22 years of marriage, the couple announced their separation on Dec. 13. In a statement, a representative stated, “They have a close friendship and remain united in their love for their children.”

Those closest to the pair weren’t surprised by the news, especially considering the turmoil that ensued when Livia, 50, acknowledged in 2018 that she had an illicit connection with Italian writer Marco Brancaccia when she and Colin, 59, were separated between 2015 and 2016.

After their 11-month romance ended, Livia accused Brancaccia of following her, and she and Firth sued him in an Italian court for a “campaign of harassment.” (The matter was settled out of court in July 2018 after Brancaccia disputed the allegations.)
