On Tuesday, Pierre Soubrier, the athletic trainer, and Sophie Clough, the assistant coach of Portland Thorns were fired from the team. NWSL announced that Clough was fired for making unwanted contact with a player, and Soubrier for illegally distributing controlled substances to the players.

Crystal stated in 2018 that “We met at work, he was an athletic trainer and that’s where our paths crossed. Similar jobs. He loves the game. I always have this great support system because he’s just as passionate about the game as I am. Over the dinner table, it’s definitely a good conversation.”

After his time with the Spirit, Soubrier moved on to become the head of sports medicine and performance for the Colorado Rapids. The couple got married in New York in December 2018.
