Dalvin James Cook is an American football running back. On Monday (August 14), the ex-Minnesota Vikings standout reached an agreement with the New York Jets for a one-year contract worth $8.6 million.
Cook has been a part of the Vikings team for his entire career. The Vikings chose him in the second round during the 2017 draft. During his time in the league, he accumulated 5,993 rushing yards and scored 47 touchdowns. He maintained an impressive average of 4.7 yards per carry. In the last four seasons, he earned a spot in the Pro Bowl and achieved a yearly rushing distance of at least 1,000 yards.
Aside from this, he allegedly offered his ex-girlfriend $1 million to drop her domestic violence claims. Let’s gather more information regarding his girlfriend and her claims on him.
According to the lawsuit, Gracelyn Trimble and Cook met on a Florida beach in 2018 and started a relationship. Although there isn’t a lot of information available about their relationship, she shared with the news source that she had traveled to Minnesota on November 19, 2020, to formally end their relationship and collect her things. However, things didn’t go well during the visit.
In the legal claim, Trimble said that Cook became angry when she asked for his help to gather her things. Cook supposedly grabbed her arm, forcefully threw her over the couch, and her face hit the coffee table. This caused injuries to her forehead and nose.
Adding to this, Timber said that Cook hit her with a broomstick, pushed her against a wall, and kicked her in the hips and ribs while she was on the ground. She ran out of his house to find help. Later, he brought her back inside the house and took away her phone, according to the documents filed. The police were not called to the scene when this happened.

Former Vikings player Dalvin Cook has been in a domestic abuse case with his ex-girlfriend since November 2021. Amid links to the Jets, Dalvin, a free agent running back, reportedly offered his ex-girlfriend $1 million to withdraw domestic violence claims.
A recent twist in the case reveals that Cook offered her $800,000 and later $1 million to prevent her from testifying against him and to write a letter to the NFL clearing him of any wrongdoing. Afterward, the NFL issued a statement mentioning that they will look into the situation using their personal conduct policy.

NFL will keep an eye on how things unfold, but Cook’s current standing stays the same. Right now, it’s not clear whether the NFL will make Cook stop playing for a while or if he will take time off himself to handle this situation. This development complicates Cook’s search for a new team as he tries to move on from the Vikings.
