Donna Dixon and Dan Aykroyd are no longer together.

“After 39 years as a married, we are now on separate life paths. “As co-parents, coworkers, and business partners, we’re still legally married.” The two tell PEOPLE in a joint statement.

Michaels later hired Dan for “Saturday Night Live” as a writer and performer. From 1975 until 1979, Aykroyd played Yortuk Festrunk, Beldar Conehead, and Elwood Blues, among other characters on the show. The Blues Brothers had their own film in 1980, and John Goodman replaced the late John Belushi in the 1998 sequel, “Blues Brothers 2000.”
