Dearica Hamby‘s husband, Alonzo Nelson-Ododa, is a former professional basketball player with ties to Kenya and Denmark. The couple is parents to a beautiful daughter, Amaya, and is expecting their second child, a baby boy, whom they plan to name Legend. Despite taking a break from basketball, Alonzo remains an important figure in the family’s life, and he continues to support his wife in her basketball career.

Alonzo Nelson-Ododa is 29 years old and originally from Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Norcross High School before attending the University of Richmond, where he played for the Richmond Spiders. He received a degree in political science from the university before he started playing for the Pittsburgh Panthers. He went on to play in the Danish Superliga for Team FOG Naestved as a center. As of 2022, Nelson-Ododa appears to have taken a break from basketball as he is not currently signed with any team, according to reports.

Sebastian, Nelson-father, Ododa’s also used to play basketball. He played for the Kenyan national team and was a part of Huntington University in Indiana from 1989 to 1992. His younger sister, Olivia, is a young basketball player who currently plays for the Los Angeles Sparks, just like his wife, Dearica Hamby.

Dearica And Alonzo Are Now Expecting a Second Child

Dearica Hamby and Alonzo Nelson-Ododa are parents to a beautiful daughter, Amaya Hamby, whom they welcomed in 2017. Ever since her birth, Amaya has taken social media by storm, adored by netizens for her cute appearance and resemblance to her mother. The mother-daughter duo is often seen together attending events, and Amaya is already fashion-savvy, even designing her custom PG3 for a media outing back in 2022.

The couple is currently expecting their second child, a baby boy. Dearica announced her pregnancy during the WNBA Championship Parade held in Las Vegas, and it turns out that Hamby was pregnant when she played in this year’s WNBA Playoffs. They have already decided on a name for the soon-to-be-arriving child, Legend, as Dearica confirmed while announcing her pregnancy.
