Dexter King passed away at his residence in Malibu, California, leaving behind his wife, Leah Weber King, whom he had been married to for 11 years. Leah, born on August 7, 1980, in New Orleans, Louisiana, manages her website where she shares insights through blogs on art and quotes.

Dexter and Leah, who tied the knot on July 12, 2013, had a strong bond and shared a life filled with love and support. Leah, originally from New Orleans, has a diverse background as a former broadcast journalist, entrepreneur, and consultant.

Despite their enduring connection, the couple did not have any children together. They first crossed paths in New Orleans when Leah hosted a book signing for Dexter’s memoir. According to Dexter’s cousin, Isaac Newton Farris Jr., the two built a life together reminiscent of the love and support Dexter experienced from his parents.

Dexter King was born in Atlanta in 1961 and got his name from Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, where his dad first worked as a pastor. Sadly, when he was only seven years old, his father was killed in Memphis, Tennessee, in 1968.

King followed the path of his father and went to Morehouse College in Atlanta. Although he initially moved to California to pursue acting because of his passion for the arts, he later shifted his focus to dedicating himself to legally safeguarding his father’s legacy and the intellectual property connected to the King family’s work.

King is survived by his wife, his sister Rev. Dr. Bernice A. King, and his brother Martin Luther King III. His mother, who passed away in 2006, and his sister Yolanda, who died in 2007, preceded him in death.
