Ed Gordon is a well-known American television journalist with a successful career spanning four decades. He is best known for his work with Black Entertainment Television (BET), where he served as the main news anchor and host of several shows. He hails from Detroit and is the son of an Olympic athlete, also named Ed Gordon. Gordon served as the primary news anchor for BET from 1988 to 1996 and again from 2000 to 2001. He later hosted two interview shows: BET Tonight from 2001 to 2002 and Weekly with Ed Gordon from 2010 to 2011.
Apart from BET, Gordon has also worked for various other media outlets. He served as a journalist for NBC News from 1996 to 2000, CBS News from 2004 to 2005, and NPR from 2005 to 2006. From 2006 to 2010, he hosted a talk show called Our World with Black Enterprise that was broadcasted nationally. However, not many people know about his personal life, including his wife Leslie M. Gordon. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at Ed Gordon’s wife and their successful blended family.
Leslie Howard is an entertainment and feature writer who met Ed Gordon at the Disney Dreamer’s Academy, where they were both covering the event. Leslie was skeptical about getting married again, having already been divorced, but Ed was more optimistic. He was attracted to Leslie from the moment he saw her and followed her around Walt Disney World. They hit it off immediately, and their children did too.
In a recent interview with Essence, the couple talked about their relationship and what makes it work. According to Leslie, there was an ease with which they worked with one another and communicated. She felt a sense of closeness with Ed right away, and their relationship blossomed into love. Ed, on the other hand, was never soured on marriage after his divorce and always believed that he would get married again.

The Gordons are a shining example of how a blended family can work for all involved. They are parents to Leslie’s sons, Steven, 21, and Landon, 14, and Ed’s daughter, Taylor, 19. All of the children were 100 percent on board with their parent’s decision to be together. In fact, their success in love the second time around is truly an inspirational tale.

Leslie talks about Ed’s traditional marriage values and her “duties” as a wife in her essay for author Gil Robertson’s new anthology Where Did Our Love Go: Love and Relationships in the African American Community. She respects and loves Ed’s sense of tradition and gravitas, but also wants to respect and honor herself as a strong Black woman. Ed believes that men want to be the “head of the household” in a traditional sense, and women like that to some degree, but finding the happy medium can be challenging. The key is to find commonalities that both parties enjoy, such as music, books, traveling, and movies.
Communication is another essential aspect of a successful marriage. According to Leslie, Ed is more of a “let’s talk this issue out” person, while she is more of a “let’s get over it and move on” person. Finding the right communication tactics takes time, but it’s crucial to work through issues and make sure everyone is comfortable.
