Ed Hartwell told “Page Six TV” that Keshia Knight Pulliam’s marriage to him ended after only two months.
Hartwell, 38, talked to the media for the first time since he filed for a shocking divorce on Monday. He said that jealousy, disagreements about starting a family, and suspicions of infidelity on both sides tore their marriage apart.
Hartwell married “Cosby Show” star Knight Pulliam, 37, on January 1 after dating him for four months. He said that they stopped having s** when their relationship ended, but he thinks she did it behind his back because she was so determined to get pregnant.
He told us, “After they got married, she wanted a baby right away. I tried to explain to her that, based on what I believe and what I’ve seen from other successful people, when you first get married, especially since we didn’t date for long, you should focus on each other and not just have a baby. She really did want to do that.”
Hartwell also said that he “sat down” with his wife in February. His wife, who played Rudy Huxtable on the once-popular NBC show, was the youngest person to win an Emmy.
“I said, ‘I think we may have made a mistake. He told us, “I think we moved too fast. Our lives and wants are going in different directions.”
During the talk, Hartwell told her that his four-year ex-girlfriend had “lost a baby,” which made him realize that he still “cared about her.” After Hartwell told Knight Pulliam the truth, he was so upset that she almost stopped being in his life.
“[Knight Pulliam] wasn’t upset that I still cared about her,” said Baltimore Ravens player Hartwell. “All she could say was, ‘You don’t want to have a baby, but you’re mad about her baby. You can’t talk to her daughter, who is 13. And there were a lot of consequences.”
Hartwell also said that his wife ran away to see a spiritualist and “started going out with friends all the time without telling me when she was coming home or sometimes not coming home at all.”
After the argument, Hartwell, who has a 9-year-old son named Ed Jr. with his ex-wife, former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Lisa Wu, said that Knight Pulliam was ready to have a baby any way she could, whether it was through in vitro fertilization, adoption, or giving birth naturally.
“What I learned about her is that if she wants something, she wants it right away and she’s going to go get it. He said, “That’s one of the reasons we stopped having s**.”
The former linebacker moved out of the house and asked for a paternity test for Knight Pulliam‘s unborn child. He was surprised to find out that Knight Pulliam was pregnant, but he went back to help her.
“As time went on and days passed, some things just didn’t make sense. So I wouldn’t say she’s a bad person,” he said. “She wants what she wants, and I want what I want: she wants a baby, and I want to find love and happiness. But at the end of the day, I think it’s fair for me to want a test if something doesn’t make sense.”
“I can’t say that she has been cheating. I know she’s been out, hasn’t gone home, and went out of town, but I don’t know what’s going on for the past three days. “That’s true,” he said. “I can’t say that she cheated. I can say that she wanted to get in vitro and that she wanted to do some things to make sure she got pregnant. I just want to be sure that it belongs to me.”
On Wednesday night’s “Entertainment Tonight,” his soon-to-be-ex-wife said that he had cheated on her. He denied this and said that she was making things up to make herself look better.
He said, “One thing I’ve learned about her, and I don’t say this to put her down, is that she can tell a half-truth to make herself look like, I don’t want to say the victim.” “But that woman is the right one.”
