Taft is the daughter of John Taft, who used to play defense for a professional ice hockey team and was on the US men’s ice hockey team at the 1976 Winter Olympics. He was the American representative at the 2018 Winter Olympics. He played college hockey for the Hockey East conference team Boston University. Gilroy is a three-time All-American and won the Hobey Baker Award and the NCAA title with the Terriers in his senior year.
