Tommicus Walker and LeToya Luckett have decided to call it quits.
After three years of marriage and four months after welcoming son Tysun Wolf, the former Destiny’s Child member, 39, and Texas entrepreneur, 40, announced their divorce on Monday.
“Tommicus and I have chosen to get a divorce after much serious deliberation,” she said, beside a photo of the couple and their children Tysun, 4 months, and Gianna Iman, 2. “Out of respect for our children, it is my deepest wish for us to be loving co-parents and maintain a tranquil environment.”
“Please respect our desire for privacy,” she wrote at the bottom of the email, which was labeled “Love always 💔.” “Thank you in advance for your prayers, support, and healing space as we navigate this difficult time.”
Walker sent a similar message, calling the decision “very tough.”
“As co-parents, we remain dedicated to our family and ask that you respect our privacy and the protection of our children at this time,” he wrote. “With tremendous love and respect for one another, we happily remain devoted as caring friends.”
The singer announced the birth of their baby in September, so the news of their divorce comes as a shock.
Walker posted on Instagram at the time, “God, thank you for blessing our son to arrive healthy, strong, & full of light.” “For us, this is a very proud occasion. I’m looking forward to the memories we’ll make and the father-son conversations we’ll have. Little King Tysun, I adore you.”
Walker and Luckett married at a small wedding in the Texas Hills Country in December 2017. After they stunned her with a proposal on her birthday in August 2017, they went public with their relationship.
“The chemistry was there right away,” Luckett said at the time of their engagement to ESSENCE. “We began conversing and laughing. He, like myself, is from Texas.”
She continued, “Talking to him felt like being at home again.” “We communicated for a few weeks, and he had no idea who I was, what I looked like, or what my complete name was.”
