Mikaela Shiffrin, an American skier, recently won a competition in Zagreb, Croatia, and is now just one win away from tying Lindsey Vonn’s record of 82 World Cup victories. Shiffrin also has the chance to equal the overall record for World Cup wins, currently held by Ingemar Stenmark of Sweden, with only five more wins.
Shiffrin expressed her excitement after her win, stating that she had a lot of fun skiing and that she had given it her all to achieve victory. She said, “I’m so happy, I had so much fun skiing today. It was really my best skiing on both of the runs. Nothing but the best is going to work. I was taking all the risks I needed and made it to the end. It’s such an amazing feeling when it’s good enough.”
In terms of her personal life, she is dating Aleksander Kilde at the moment. Read on to learn about their relationship in detail.
Mikaela Shiffrin and Aleksander Kilde’s love story began with a chance encounter six years ago. Although their initial meeting may have been unassuming, with Kilde simply saying “Hi” and sending Shiffrin a friend request, their relationship would soon develop into something more.
The alpine ski racer even asked Shiffrin out on a date, but she turned him down, thinking she was being cute. However, he took her rejection in stride and remained friendly and respectful towards her even as she dated other people.

Despite the initial rejection, the two remained connected and their bond only grew stronger as they both faced difficult challenges. Shiffrin was dealing with the loss of her father and Kilde was recovering from a serious injury that left him in crutches. It was during this time that he reached out to Shiffrin with a supportive message for her family, and from there, their relationship blossomed. They never stopped chatting and, in May 2021, they made their relationship public when he posted pictures of them on Instagram with the caption “If you know, you know… and now you know.”
The couple often posts about each other on their respective social media accounts.

Kilde told the official website of the Olympics why he chose skiing over football: “I had a hard time deciding, but in the end, I chose to be a skier, which I’m very happy about. “Playing in a stadium with tens of thousands of people watching would be great, but the feeling I get when I leave the starting gate is unbeatable.”
