Know About Monty Williams’ Wife As OKC Thunder Honors Late Ingrid Williams

Death Of Monty Williams’ Wife

In 2016, Monty Williams faced one of the most challenging moments of his life when his wife, Ingrid Williams, passed away. Ingrid was driving with three of their children when her car was struck head-on by a vehicle that crossed lanes after losing control. The driver of the other car, Susannah Donaldson, was reportedly going more than twice the speed limit and had also taken a substantial amount of methamphetamine.

Ingrid was taken to the hospital, but she later passed away from her injuries. However, their children survived without life-threatening injuries.

Monty Williams remained strong for his family and delivered a moving eulogy at Ingrid’s funeral, sharing how their faith in God would pull them through. He also reminded everyone to keep Susannah Donaldson’s family in their prayers.

Monty Williams’ Life And Career

Tavares Montgomery Williams, known as Monty Williams, was born on October 8, 1971, in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He played college basketball at the University of Notre Dame and was selected by the New York Knicks in the first round of the 1994 NBA draft. During his playing career, Williams played for five NBA teams, including the Knicks, San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic, and Philadelphia 76ers.

After retiring from playing in 2003, Williams began his coaching career. He served as an assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Oklahoma City Thunder. In 2010, he was named the head coach of the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans, where he served until 2015. During this time, he also worked as an assistant coach for the United States national team.

In May 2019, Williams was hired as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns, where he has achieved significant success. In 2021, he led the Suns to their first NBA Finals appearance since 1993, and in 2022, he was named the NBA Coach of the Year.
