Rachel Bilson Reacts to Bill Hader's Romance and the 'Harder Than Childbirth' Breakup

For the first time, I’m opening up. In a recent episode of her podcast, Rachel Bilson discusses her prior relationship with Bill Hader.

The Hart of Dixie actress recently sat down with Aubrey Plaza for an episode of Bilson’s Broad Ideas podcast and made an unusual revelation regarding her connection with the Barry star.

Bilson acknowledged to Plaza that she and Hader dated “two years ago,” which came as a shock to Plaza, who had never heard of their long-rumored romance.

“Are you serious?” says the narrator. Bilson’s comments elicited a response from the Parks and Recreation alum. “I don’t know s**t, I don’t know anything,” says the narrator.

“We had a relationship. I went to the Golden Globes, f**king “Bilson confirmed the news. In January 2020, she and Hader made their red carpet debut at the 77th Annual Golden Globe Awards. However, by July of the following year, the couple had called it quits. In December 2019, the two initially stoked relationship rumors with a coffee date in his hometown of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Hader and Bilson co-starred in the 2013 rom-com The To-Do List, which was directed and written by Hader’s then-wife Maggie Carey and starred Plaza.

During her interview with Plaza, Bilson, who is the mother of 5-year-old Briar Rose, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Hayden Christensen, didn’t say much about their relationship. However, during her June 6 interview with Mandy Moore, Bilson mentioned a recent “very horrible breakup” she had “during the pandemic.”

Bilson, who did not mention Hader by name during her interview with Moore, claimed she “could not leave my house” because of the epidemic, so when the split happened, she “had nothing else to do but sit in it, and deal with it, and experience it.”

She went on to say, “It was perhaps the hardest thing I’ve ever done.” “It’s more difficult than childbirth.”

Despite the fact that it “hurt like a motherf**ker,” the actress claims that confronting the discomfort caused her to recuperate more quickly. “If you face it head-on, you’ll be able to say, ‘OK, I did that, and now I’m ready for the next thing.'”

Hader is now involved in a love relationship with Anna Kendrick. A source told ET in January that Hader and Kendrick had been “dating for a time.” The two co-starred in the Disney+ Christmas film Noelle in 2019, but it’s unclear when they started dating.

“They enjoy each other a lot and have similar senses of humor,” a source stated. “They’re both ecstatic about their relationship, and it’s obvious. They have a natural affinity for one other.”
