Despite his health struggles, he continued to work, although it was revealed that he endured significant pain while filming “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” In 2021, he announced his return for just one episode of Season 11 but ultimately returned for Season 12, the show’s final season.

In April 2023, Lewis disclosed that he had been battling Parkinson’s disease since 2021, leading him to retire from stand-up comedy to focus on writing and acting.
