Ronald Levin Carter, who was born May 4, 1937, is an American jazz double bassist. His participation in 2,221 recording sessions makes him the most-recorded jazz bassist in history. He has won three Grammy awards and has recorded many times on the cello.
Some of his studio albums as a solo artist are Blues Farm (1973), All Blues (1973), Spanish Blue (1974), Anything Goes (1975), Yellow & Green (1976), Pastels (1976), Piccolo (1977), Third Plane (1977), Peg Leg (1978), A Song for You (1978), Etudes (1982), The Golden Striker (2003), Dear Miles (2006), and Ron Carter’s Great Big Band (2011).

Ron Carter was previously married to Janet Hasbrouch. On June 7, 1958, he married her. But because she died, their bond won’t last forever. She passed away on April 25, 2000. Ron has two sons, Ron Carter Jr. and Myles Carter, from this marriage.
Janet Clarice (Hasbrouck) Carter was born to Homer A. Hasbrouck and Hilda Marie Harrison. She was a Trustee at The Studio Museum in Harlem and is remembered fondly by artists and people in the area. In her honor, a group of artworks is called “The Janet Carter Collection.” She also helped create the Children’s Art Carnival in Harlem.
