Sweet Home is a South Korean apocalyptic horror streaming television series featuring Song Kang, Lee Jin-wook, and Lee Si-young. It’s an adaptation of the popular Naver webtoon created by Kim Carnby and Hwang Young-chan, which garnered over 2.1 billion views.
The show initially premiered on Netflix on December 18, 2020, and its eagerly awaited second season is slated for release on December 1, 2023, with a third season currently in the works.

Fans of ‘Sweet Home’ are in for an exciting experience as the show is set to return with its second season. Netflix has officially announced that the K-creature series will be available for streaming on December 1. This upcoming season promises even more thrills as it delves into a world where people’s hidden desires transform them into terrifying monsters.
The teaser trailer for the release date unveiled that Song Kang will reprise his role as Hyun-su and embark on a mysterious journey confined within a cage. The second season will see survivors grappling with the horrors of these monstrous creatures.
Director Lee, in a statement about the new season, emphasized that it will be a fully-fledged apocalyptic drama. While Season 1 depicted tension and fear within the confines of the Green Home, Season 2 will unfold in a more expansive setting, introducing a whole new ensemble of characters and monsters.
Actor Lee Jin-uk mentioned that this season will take a different path from the original webtoon, as the world within the series expands, offering more depth for contemplation.

Lee Si-young also chimed in, noting that the characters will venture into a vastly sprawling world beyond Green Home, and everyone is set to undergo significant changes.
Netflix made an official announcement of the series‘ cast on December 18, 2019, even though filming had already begun. The lead roles were assigned to Song Kang, Lee Jin-wook, and Lee Si-young, while Lee Do-hyun, Kim Nam-hee, Go Min-si, Park Gyu-young, Go Youn-jung, Kim Kap-soo, and Kim Sang-ho were part of the ensemble cast.
During Song Kang’s audition, Director Lee Eung-bok saw in him a resemblance to Johnny Depp’s character in “Edward Scissorhands,” describing him as someone with a pure and innocent soul but holding a spear.
Song Kang’s recommendation for the role came from the director of Netflix’s “Love Alarm,” which had propelled him to fame in August 2019.
Although Lee Si-young’s character was not originally part of the webtoon, the director aimed to introduce a strong female character capable of executing impressive action sequences. Lee Si-young, a former amateur boxer, underwent six months of training before filming.

Park Gyu-young, despite harboring initial doubts about her casting prospects, received a script shortly after leaving the audition at the director’s request.
