Rayford Trae Young is an American professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks in the NBA. He played for the Oklahoma Sooners in college and holds the record for tying the most single-game assists in NCAA Division I. Young is the only player to lead the NCAA in both points and assists in a single season. He was drafted by the Dallas Mavericks but traded to the Atlanta Hawks for Luka Dončić. Young has been named an NBA All-Star twice and is nicknamed “Ice Trae”.
However, in addition to his professional career, he is also known for his personal life and relationship with his fiancée, Shelby Miller, whom he met while studying at the University of Oklahoma. Here is everything we know about Shelby Miller and her relationship with the NBA star.
Shelby Miller was born on October 25, 1995, in Norman, Oklahoma, to parents Mike and Sherri Miller. She later went on to study at the University of Oklahoma, where she studied communication and media and was also a cheerleader, while Trae Young played collegiate basketball. It was at the University of Oklahoma where Miller and Young first met, and they began dating in 2017.
Miller has a large following on Instagram, where she often posts selfies and photos of her family and friends, including Young. Her bio on Instagram describes herself as a mother, a fiancée, and a Scorpio. She also has a highlight reel featuring pictures with Young throughout their relationship, dating back to 2017 when the couple first started dating. Miller enjoys traveling and often posts photos from their trips, including a photo in front of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi and a picture from a pool in the Bahamas.

Miller and Young made their relationship public in October 2017 when Miller posted a photo of herself in a cheerleading uniform next to Young, with the caption, “I guess you could say I’m a pretty big fan…😉.” They got engaged in December 2021, and Young announced it through an Instagram post, where he shared a series of photos from the proposal and wrote, “What a night💫 #FutureMrsYoung💍.” He got down on one knee in front of a balloon arch and a sign that said, “Marry Me.” Miller made an Instagram post of her own and wrote, “Forever Young🤍.”
Miller is often seen supporting Young at his basketball games. In October 2022, she posted a photo of herself holding baby Tydus courtside at an Atlanta Hawks game, with the baby wearing a mini No. 11 jersey, the same as his father’s. In February 2020, the couple appeared together at the NBA All-Star Game in Chicago, where Young played on Team Giannis. Miller later shared a photo of them at the event, with the caption, “Hey you, you’re my All-Star🤩 #letsgoback.”
