What Research Reveals About Ketone Drinks

In a report published in Frontiers in Physiology in October 2017, researchers looked at the effects of ketones on metabolism. In the study, Clarke and colleagues put the athletes through a 30-minute cycling test. According to the statistics, the cyclists who were given the ketone drink cycled 400 meters (approximately a quarter mile) further than the other two groups.

In another study published in Frontiers in Physiology in 2017, volunteers who took a ketone supplement performed worse. The HVMN prototype, on the other hand, was not employed in this experiment.

The study participants — once again, a group of pro cyclists — were given a ketone supplement drink before their performance session. Despite reaching ketosis, the cyclists’ timings were two percent slower than those who did not take the ketone supplement.

Furthermore, all 10 respondents suffered gastrointestinal pain after consuming the drink (“nausea, reflux, and mild discomfort”). An eleventh rider was unable to complete the sport due to vomiting and dizziness.

Those who took the greatest ketone supplement doses saw the most unfavorable consequences.

Regardless, the majority of studies show that ketone supplements are well tolerated.
