It’s a match between two Italians! Jessica Chastain and her husband, Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, keep their relationship private, but what they do reveal sounds like something straight out of a fairy tale.
The Miss Sloane actress and the Italian millionaire met in Paris, France, in early 2012, on the same day Jessica Chastain was nominated for her first Academy Award. “It’s like, absolutely the finest day I ever had,” she said during a December 2017 appearance on Live With Kelly and Ryan.
The pair dated for several years before marrying in June 2017 at Villa Tiepolo Passi, the family home of Passi de Preposulo in northern Italy. The ultra-private wedding was attended by Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Édgar Ramrez, all of whom have previously worked with Chastain.
Despite being a former CEO of the fashion business Moncler, Passi de Preposulo is a descendant of one of Italy’s oldest noble families. His family still uses their titles, and he is a count, despite the fact that the nobility is no longer acknowledged in the country. Roberta Armani, Giorgio Armani’s niece, is one of his mentors, and he previously served as a spokeswoman for Armani.
In 2010, he founded Fiol, his own prosecco brand, with two childhood friends. In June 2018, he told Business Insider that he “grew up surrounded by prosecco” and that he first tried it when he was 9 or 10 years old. “Harvesting took place at a specific period of the year.”
Chastain is a fan of the Passi de Preposulo family home, owing to the delicious refreshments on offer. “There’s a lot of wine and food,” she told Kelly Ripa in 2017. “There’s a lot of beauty there,” says the narrator.

In an interview with WSJ Magazine in 2018, Chastain stated that she didn’t want to get married at all until her husband persuaded her otherwise. “I never wanted to get married,” she explained. “My spouse could tell I wasn’t interested in marriage when we first met. My outlook on marriage changed as we got to know each other. Some things are worth remembering, and he is one of them. One of my favorite things in the world is being married. I didn’t expect to like him, but he’s a fantastic human being, and I’m grateful to have the opportunity to spend my life with him.”
