Kirk Edward Herbstreit is an American sportscaster and a former college football player. He is an analyst on ESPN’s College GameDay, a TV show about college football. He also gives color commentary on college football games on ESPN and ABC and on Thursday Night NFL games on Prime Video.
Herbstreit has won five Sports Emmy Awards in a variety of categories.

Jake and Tye, his twin sons, played sports at Montgomery Bell Academy. Tye now plays football at Clemson University as a walk-on. Herbstreit has another son named Zak, who became a tight end for the Ohio State football team in 2021 as a preferred walk-on.

He is also known for a case from 2009 in which he sued the IRS for changing an implied policy that let people get tax breaks for giving their houses to the fire department for training purposes.

He has given his name to the Kirk Herbstreit National Kickoff Classic in Columbus, Ohio, and Arlington, Texas. The website says that over the Labor Day weekend, the Kickoff Classic pits high school teams from Ohio and Texas against prep football powerhouses from across the country. Games in Ohio are normally held at Ohio Stadium, while games in Texas are held at AT&T Stadium.
