Later, McDonnell worked as a sports reporter for ABC News and as a reporter for Fox News from 2010 to 2011. She has also worked for TESS Research Foundation as a project manager, vice president, and most recently as the director of communications. In 2016, she started working for the foundation.

In 2016, McDonnell and Gasol made their engagement official. They finally got married in 2019, holding a ceremony with family and friends in San Francisco. The former Los Angeles Laker player and his wife Cat McDonnell welcomed their second child together, a son, on Thursday this month, which they announced on Instagram. The happy couple posted on Instagram in both Spanish and English, “Our baby boy has arrived! “We couldn’t be happier to meet our son,” the couple said. “Everything has gone great, and we are now officially a family of four!”

Gasol and McDonnell’s baby boy joins their 2-year-old daughter, Elisabet Gianna, whose middle name is a tribute to Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna. In January 2020, the father and daughter and seven other people died in a tragic helicopter crash in Calabasas, California.
