In 2017, the couple celebrated their first wedding anniversary. DiDario said that he was still not used to calling Benitez his husband. Even though he was still getting used to his new name, DiDario told PEOPLE, “I can’t say it enough. “I’m proud to call him “my husband” whenever I can. He is more than my partner or my spouse. He is my husband.”

The couple spends their free time together traveling and making plans for their future. They work to keep the communication going in their relationship by avoiding drama and not yelling at each other when they disagree. DiDario told PEOPLE, “We’re so low-drama that if we disagree, we can talk it out without raising our voices.”
