Vaughn was born in Pasadena, California. He went to John Muir High School in nearby Pasadena, where he got a 3.94 GPA and became the best high school player in that area since Stacey Augmon, who also went to John Muir and became a star in the NBA.

Know About Jacques Vaughn’s Coaching Career

From 2010 to 2012, Vaughn was an assistant coach for the San Antonio Spurs. Vaughn was named the new head coach of the Orlando Magic on July 28, 2012. The Magic fired him on February 5, 2015. Vaughn then worked as a professional scout for the Spurs during the 2015–16 season.

Before the 2016–17 season, he was hired as Kenny Atkinson’s top assistant coach for the Brooklyn Nets. After Atkinson left the team in the middle of the season, he was promoted to interim head coach in March 2020. The Nets hired Steve Nash as head coach on September 3, 2020. Vaughn went back to his job as an assistant coach.

After the Nets and Steve Nash broke up, Vaughn was named interim head coach on November 1, 2022. On November 9, he was named head coach for good.

In 2001, when he was playing for the Atlanta Hawks, he missed his first 22 field goal attempts in a row, which was an NBA record. After missing 22 times in a row, he had his best season ever, making 47 percent of his shots.
