Samara Joy is a talented jazz singer born in 1999 in the Bronx, New York. She comes from a musical family with her father being a bass player and her grandparents being founders of a gospel group. During her high school days at Fordham High School for the Arts, she won the Best Vocalist award and later went on to attend SUNY’s Purchase College, where she studied as a voice major and became an Ella Fitzgerald Scholar.
She recorded her self-titled debut album with the help of producer and manager Matt Pierson while she was still in college and graduated magna cum laude in 2021. Her album was released in July 2021 and she went on to perform on TV shows like Today and tour Europe and the US, including festivals like Monterey Jazz Festival and Winter Jazzfest.
