According to Deadline, “Three Pines” has been canceled on 13 March 2023 after its first season on Amazon Prime Video. Starring Alfred Molina, the show premiered in December and concluded its eight-episode run by the end of the month, with the two-part finale “The Hangman” serving as the series finale. Although there’s a possibility that another streaming platform could revive the show, showrunner Emilia di Girolamo recommends that fans turn to Louise Penny’s books for further exploration of the story.
In response to the news of the cancellation of “Three Pines,” Tailfeathers made the announcement on Instagram. She wrote, “It has been difficult to process the news that there will be no second season of #ThreePines. Thank you to everyone who watched and supported the show. It meant the world to me knowing that this show resonated with such a massive global audience.”

Tailfeathers added, “As an Indigenous actor, I never thought I’d have the opportunity to be the leading woman on a #1 show like this. It was huge. Our stories matter and this show demonstrated that audiences, regardless of background, are hungry for Indigenous content.”
Amazon Studios unveiled the release date and official trailer for “Three Pines” on November 1, 2022. The series consists of eight one-hour episodes, with the first two episodes debuting on December 2, 2022. Thereafter, two new episodes were released each week until the show’s finale on December 23. While originally planned to air in select countries, including the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, and Greenland.
During its first season, “Three Pines” explored four murder mysteries, with two episodes devoted to each case.
