An esteemed figure in the music industry, Mister Cee’s Throwback at Noon show became a hallmark of New York City radio during his tenure at Hot 97. Eventually, he transitioned to Audacy’s 94.7 The Block in New York.

Hot 97 officials later honored the legendary DJ, a Brooklyn native, with a heartfelt eulogy on their website. According to their statement, Mister Cee’s family has confirmed his passing.
Born in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, New York City, LeBrun discovered his passion for DJing at a young age under the guidance of a crew called DJ Knight and the Knights of Hollywood. His introduction to rapper Big Daddy Kane during high school marked the beginning of his journey into the music industry.
Following graduation, he juggled various messenger jobs before diving into DJing for Kane in the late 1980s, even contributing to Kane’s debut album, “Long Live the Kane,” with the track “Mister Cee’s Master Plan.”
In the early 1990s, Mister Cee transitioned to radio, where he rapidly gained popularity by spotlighting emerging artists on his shows “Throwback at Noon” and “Friday Night Live” on New York stations Hot97 and WBLS, respectively. It was during this time that he played a pivotal role in discovering and mentoring the Notorious B.I.G., facilitating his signing to Bad Boy Records. Additionally, Mister Cee ventured into product development, creating the “Island Punch Finisher” flavor for Tropical Fantasy soft drinks.
In 2008, Mister Cee’s influence extended into the gaming world when a character based on him was featured in the video game Grand Theft Auto IV on the fictional rap radio station “102.7, the Beat.”
