Ruben And McCants Got Divorce In 2012

Ruben and McCants went to court to get a divorce, citing their differences as the reason. In January 2012, their divorce was finalized after two months. A report from TMZ in April 2012 said that McCants said she was forced to sign the prenuptial agreement unfairly, but the judge did not believe her. After the final decision was made, court records showed that Studdard did not have to pay McCants any spousal support or alimony. And since they didn’t have any kids together, child support wasn’t an issue. Studdard was also allowed to keep their home and all of his things, including his jewelry, pensions, royalties, clothes, and all of his cash.

TMZ reported that Ruben Studdard’s ex-wife, Surata Zuri McCants, got to keep her wedding dress, photo albums, a 2006 BMW (which Studdard was supposed to pay off), a $10,000 property settlement, and $2,000 to pay for her lawyer’s fees. Overall, the news outlet said that the couple’s breakup was the “CLEANEST divorce ever”.
