Misty told about her ten-year relationship with her husband, with whom she got engaged in August 2015. She said, “She met Olu in a club in Chelsea in 2004. When he saw her on the dance floor, he was with his cousin, the actor Taye Diggs. He was tall, fit, and had dimples that made her heart race. Ten years later, they were still together. “He was my first boyfriend,” says Copeland with a huge smile. “He taught me to talk to people in ways I’d never learned before, to not run away from problems, and to sit down and think about things in a critical way. And he made me feel like I really did have a great future as a ballerina.”

Diggs introduced Copeland and Evans in a New York City nightclub in 2006, but they didn’t get married right away. Olu asked Misty to marry him in August 2015, and the two of them said their vows the following year. On July 31, 2016, they got married at the Montage Hotel in Laguna Beach, California, in front of 100 people.
