Smokey Robinson is an American singer-songwriter, producer, and former executive director. He founded and led the Motown group, the Miracles, from 1955 to 1972, then returned as a solo artist. Robinson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 and received the 2016 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize. In 2022, he was inducted into the Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame.
However, as much as his music has been in the limelight, so has his personal life. Robinson has been married twice, with one marriage ending in divorce, and the other still going strong. In this article, we take a closer look at the women in Robinson’s life, his marriages, and his children.
Meet Smokey Robinson’s Current Wife, Frances Glandney
Frances Glandney is Smokey Robinson’s current wife, and the two have been married since May 2002. Frances is not part of the music industry, and she prefers to keep a low profile. She works as an interior designer and has made a name for herself in the industry.
Frances has been instrumental in helping Smokey launch a skincare line in collaboration with Skinphonic. The line includes two collections, The Get Ready and My Girl, named after the songs Smokey wrote for The Temptations. The collections are specifically designed for people with melanated complexions.
Before marrying Frances, Smokey was married to Claudette for 27 years. Their marriage was not without its challenges, and Smokey’s infidelity led to their divorce. However, Frances and Smokey seem to be going strong, both as life partners and business partners. They currently reside together in their home in Pittsburgh.

Smokey Was Previously Married To Claudette Rogers Robinson
Claudette Rogers Robinson was a singer and songwriter who gained fame as a member of the music group The Miracles, where she met her future husband, Smokey Robinson. The two married in 1959 and had two children, Berry Robinson and Tamla Robinson. Claudette was an essential part of The Miracles, contributing to many of their hits, including “Shop Around” and “You’ve Really Got a Hold on Me.”
Despite the couple’s initial happiness, their marriage was not without its challenges. In 1974, Claudette caught Smokey cheating on her, and the couple separated. Smokey’s infidelity inspired his hit song “The Agony & The Ecstasy,” which spoke about the pain and joy of love. However, their separation was short-lived, and the couple reunited in 1976. Unfortunately, their reconciliation was not meant to last, and Claudette filed for divorce in 1986.
Claudette and Smokey’s marriage was a rocky one, but their love for each other was undeniable. In addition to their two children, the couple faced pregnancy struggles, including stillborn twins and seven miscarriages. Despite the challenges, their love for each other never wavered, and they remained close friends after their divorce until Claudette’s death in 2021.
