Justin Mende, also known as FJ OUTLAW, was born in December 1986 in Tallahassee, FL. His father was in a country band called Slim Sommerville and the Southlanders. They performed at “The Grand Ole Opry” in Nashville in 1981. FJ moved to the rural area of “Port St. John” when he was 3 years old.
At age 7, his mother bought him his first guitar. He spent his childhood growing up in low-income trailer parks and moving from town to town. At age 13, FJ had already taught himself how to play and had been in several bands.
During his early teen years, he started listening to hip-hop music and grew to love it. By the time he was in his late teens, he had tried out rapping himself. He soon found a way to mix his country music, rock and roll, and hip hop roots into his own style and flow.

In 2016, he released his first EP, “Shotguns N’ Whiskey,” followed by his first album, “More Trash Than Hick.”

FJ broke up with his original record label in 2018. Then, he released his next studio album, “LIFE OF THE OUTLAW.” In 2019 he made three more albums. “Lyrical Narcan: The Mixtape,” “Saltwater Cowboys,” and “Phonetic Freshman,” his throwback album, are all good examples.
In 2020, he released “Label Denounced,” an album about Eleven86 Music. He then signed on with MAKO Music Group.
In 2021, he released both “Broken” and a Christmas album. In 2022, he made “Hopeless Emotions” and “King of the Trailer.”
