CheatSheet says that Elon Musk is always thinking about “love,” even though he wants to go to Mars. (Isn’t that a familiar billionaire story?) Even though he and Canadian singer Grimes had a daughter last year, Musk hasn’t been able to figure out how to make a marriage work. Maybe this is why he and Grimes haven’t said anything about being engaged yet. Musk has been married three times. He has been married twice to the same woman, British actress Talulah Riley, and once to his college sweetheart, Justine Musk. Your Story says that Riley got $20 million from the divorce settlement, but Justine got a lot more because she is the mother of his five sons.
The Canadian author has written a lot about their divorce and the fact that she felt like Elon’s “trophy wife” in their marriage. In 2010, Justine wrote in a profile for Marie Claire that Elon “pushed me to be blonder” and was “obsessed” with his work.
“It was like living in a dream: privileged and unreal. But the glittering whirlwind couldn’t hide the growing hole at the center. Elon was so focused on his job that even when he was at home, he was thinking about something else. I wanted deep, heartfelt conversations, closeness, and understanding.” Even though Justine and Elon went to counseling for a month, it didn’t work out in the end. Justine didn’t find the “intimacy” she was looking for in her marriage. Instead, she focused on getting the most for her money, which she did.

Justine Musk says that Elon Musk gave her an “ultimatum” about their marriage
Even though most relationships change over time, Justine Musk said there were “warning signs” from the start. According to Marie Claire, at their wedding, Justine said that Elon Musk told her, “I am the alpha in this relationship.” Even though she laughed off the idea at the time, she eventually saw how true it was. She said he talked down to her and that she “felt unimportant in his eyes.”
“If you worked for me, I would fire you,” he said just as often, Justine wrote for Marie Claire. Justine said that Elon gave her an “ultimatum” after a month of couples counseling that didn’t work. “Either we fix this marriage today or I’ll divorce you tomorrow,” he said, which I took to mean, “Our current situation works for me, so it should work for you.” Well, Elon did file for divorce the next day, and Justine tried to get her fair share of the money even though she felt “strangely relieved.”

Elon told Business Insider more about how their divorce is going. He wrote that he first offered Justine an $80 million settlement, but she turned it down. During a failed court appeal, it was said that she insisted on having a share in his companies Tesla and Space X. In the end, Justine gets $20,000 a month for “clothing, shoes, and other personal items,” on top of an undetermined amount of alimony. She also got the Bel Air house that her family had lived in. It was called one of the most expensive divorces ever by the New York Post, which was right since Elon is still paying $170,000 a month for divorce legal fees.
