Meet Sam Riegel’s Wife, Quyen Tran
Quyen Tran was born to Vietnamese parents who fled Vietnam and came to the USA in 1975. Growing up, she had two older sisters who were competitive, with both playing the violin, while Quyen took flute classes. As a teenager, Tran was fascinated with the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) and dreamt of becoming a spy. Her love for science fiction novels by authors such as Anne McCaffrey, Ursula Le Guin, and Piers Anthony inspired her passion for the field.
Tran was determined to pursue a career in government service and took many language classes such as Japanese, Latin, German, and Italian. She is also fluent in Vietnamese, her mother tongue. She even learned martial arts but later realized that her desire to work for the CIA was far-fetched, and she did not have perfect vision.
Tran went to the University of Virginia (UVA), where she took pre-med classes in her first year. However, she left because she could not develop an interest in the field. She then chose electives like mythology, language, and art, in which she excelled. However, she did not pursue it professionally because of a lack of opportunities. Tran finally decided to follow her passion when she enrolled in a Film School for her Master’s degree.

How Tran And Riegel Met?
Tran and Riegel met at UVA, where they were part of an Acapella group. Acapella had been a significant part of Tran’s life throughout college, and she contributed her work as the music director for the group. However, she did not like Riegel when they first met, though she respected him as an artist and thought he was a talented singer and performer.
Tran and Riegel were polar opposites, so she initially did not want to pursue a relationship with him. Despite Riegel’s advances, Tran avoided him because of his Casanova ways. They eventually started spending more time together after she broke up with one of her ex-boyfriends. They became good friends and ended up dating each other. Before they got together, Tran gave Riegel an ultimatum to change his ways.
Riegel changed himself for her, and they have been together ever since. They got married, and the couple has a daughter and a son together. They live in Los Angeles, where they continue to support each other in their respective careers.
