Wimbledon Champion Simona Halep Divorces Husband Toni Iuruc Days Before First Anniversary
Simona Halep and her husband, Toni Iuruc, are reportedly getting a divorce just a few days before their first wedding anniversary. The couple got married on September 15 of last year in their home country of Romania, but it looks like they have been married for less than a year, as the billionaire businessman confirmed the news to Romanian reporters.
Halep and Iuruc broke up after being together for three years, just days before their first wedding anniversary. The 2019 Wimbledon champion and the 42-year-old were also planning to have their religious wedding party later this year on November 13. According to Fanatik, around 300 people were invited to the party at Romania’s Sinaia Casino.
But the investor and business owner has now told the outlet that he and the former world No. 1 are no longer together and will be getting a divorce. At first, he told reporters that the rumors were false. Iuruc gave a short statement to Fanatik earlier on Wednesday. He said, “We decided to break up with Simona.
Sources from ProSport say that the decision will be made official at a notary on Thursday. Toni Iuruc was asked to say something about the divorce, but he said, “I don’t talk about our private lives.” No, I’m not separating tomorrow…
“Stop being so insistent, this is my last time in public… The rest will be taken care of in the most polite way possible by the lawyers. Thank you for your understanding.”
It happened after the 30-year-old posted an Instagram story photo of herself and her husband in New York a few days before the US Open. The seventh seed at Flushing Meadows was then shocked when world No. 124 Daria Snigur beat her in the first round. This was the Ukrainian’s first Grand Slam match.
Why Did Simona Halep And Husband Toni Iuruc Get Divorced?
The significant distance between Halep and her spouse is said to be the cause of their separation.
Additionally, while the long distance between Halep and Iuruc might have been a factor, Simona’s early exit from the US Open might have made matters worse. Halep was defeated by the Ukrainian Daria Snigur in the first round of the US Open.
