It’s not entirely clear what’s going on here, especially since rumors of their engagement first arose in May of this year and the ‘confirmation’ wasn’t what it seemed to be.

Days after Phoebe allegedly presented Paul to friends as her “fiancé,” the two were spotted together at the Met Gala. Oh, and did you know what? On his ring finger, he wore an engagement ring.

In a recent profile of Paul in The Guardian, it was revealed that the couple had gotten engaged. The article also mentioned that Paul and Phoebe had met through direct messages (DMs) on social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram. The Guardian has the ominous statement, “The pair are rumored to be engaged.”

That’s probably alluding to the rumors that surfaced in May about Phoebe calling Paul her “fiancé” during a performance at Coachella. Even though it’s quite improbable that The Guardian would have carried such a tidbit without first verifying it with their celebrity interviewee, this is by no means the ironclad confirmation that has been widely reported.

Our gut tells us that if Phoebe and Paul weren’t engaged by now, they’d have denied the rumors by now. So it seems, although the pair is engaged, they have not yet made the news public.
