With his secret audition, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has become the frontrunner to play James Bond and replace Daniel Craig.
After purportedly participating in a secret screen test, Aaron Taylor-Johnson has emerged as the frontrunner to replace James Bond as 007.
Producer Barbara Broccoli is claimed to have been impressed by the 32-year-old actor’s audition at Pinewood Studios, where several of the films in the franchise have been shot. A source told The Sun: ‘Aaron went for a screen test to be the next Bond in September and producers and Barbara loved him. He is now one of the front-runners.’
Fans have long speculated about who they hope would play the next well-dressed hero; Aaron could be the answer.
When compared to the other names being bandied around as potential replacements for Daniel Craig, who has hung up his tux after five 007 flicks, it is true that he is something of a mystery. Although it’s true that Aaron Talor-Johnson has only recently been linked to the role of James Bond, he’s no stranger to the realm of superheroes saving the day, having appeared in the likes of Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Godzilla before.

Barbara Broccoli Says There Will Be No Female 007
Barbara Broccoli, the director of the Bond films, has shot down rumors that she may cast a woman in the next leading role. Last September, she told the PA News Agency, “James Bond is a male character.”
‘I hope that there will be many, many films made with women, for women, by women, about women. ‘I don’t think we have to take a male character and have a woman portray him. So yes, I see him as male.’

The British actor is married to Fifty Shades of Grey director Sam Taylor-Johnson, who is 55 years old. He got his start in 2001’s Armadillo, where he played a fake character, and then went on to work on The Bill and Casualty.
Aaron’s big break came in the 2009 John Lennon biopic Nowhere Boy. Before that, in 2008’s Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging, he teased teenage girls as the ultimate heartthrob.

In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in 2019, Aaron talked about their big age difference. He said there was “no funny business at all” while they worked on Nowhere Boy.
He went on to say that the attention on their relationship made him feel uncomfortable and that the attention was “intrusive.” But having to deal with that early in my career probably helped me get to a point where I can say “Oh, f**k it” more quickly.
