Alex Ovechkin took another step toward hockey history on Friday night. He scored his 801st and 802nd goals of his career to move past Gordie Howe and into second place on the NHL’s all-time list. Now, the only name above Ovechkin’s is “The Great One.” Wayne Gretzky’s 894 goals, which were once thought to be impossible to beat, are at the top of the list. And since Ovechkin’s scoring rate hasn’t changed much as he’s gotten older, it’s probably not a matter of if, but when, No. 8 passes the legendary No. 99.

Anastasia, whose nickname was “Nastya,” worked as a model. In 2014, she was named one of the “Top 10 Bachelorettes in Russia.” She didn’t get to keep this title for long, though, because Nastya and Alex got married soon after.
Shubskaya was born on November 16, 1993, in Switzerland. However, she grew up in Russia. She grew up in Switzerland, but then she and her family moved to Moscow, Russia. Shubskaya is the daughter of Russian-born Kirill Shubsky, who is 57, and Vera Glagoleva, who is 61. Her father is a Russian businessman, and her mother was an actress, producer, and director. Anastasia Sunskaya and Alex met for the first time in Beijing in 2008, during the Summer Olympics. When Natsya lost her phone, they didn’t talk to each other for five years. In 2014, Alex saw her profile on Instagram and they got back in touch. Soon after that, in 2015, they got engaged, and in 2016, they signed their marriage certificate. On January 14, 2016, in Washington, DC, the couple was caught on camera showing affection before the game against the Vancouver Canucks.
On August 11, 2016, they got married in a private ceremony with only family and close friends in attendance. On August 18, 2018, the couple announced the birth of their first child. Nastya had their second child on May 27, 2020. Alex’s older brother Sergei Ovechkin died, so they named their first child after him. And their second child’s name is Ilya Alexandrovich Ovechkin.

Shubskaya blasted the NHL after the Washington Capitals were fined $100,000 for COVID-19 violations. The fee was the NHL’s first COVID-19 penalty. The fine occurred after Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Orlov, and Samsonov were in a hotel room during an away game. After her spouse got in trouble, Shubskaya vented on Instagram, “You can’t catch the virus when you and your teammates are on the bench, hugging after a goal, or in the lounge or locker room,” she explained. “Players can’t get infected at restaurants, stores, etc. The virus works only in hotels.” Despite his wife’s anger, Ovechkin apologized for his conduct. Ovechkin regrets spending time with teammates in a hotel room instead of the locker room. “I’ll learn from this experience.”
