After nearly ten years together, Ansel Elgort and his high school love Violetta Komyshan have broken up. Professional ballerina Komyshan, 26, announced their breakup on Tuesday at the Brooklyn Museum’s opening ceremony for Thierry Mugler: Couturissime. She did not say when they had split up, though. She told E! News that she is “single” now that she and Elgort had split.
Violetta continued by explaining how she managed her life as a Hollywood starlet on the arm of a handsome leading man. There is a lot of bad stuff out there, but there is also a lot of good stuff; in fact, there is probably more good than bad, which is fantastic news.
She also offered some words of encouragement to other recently single women, saying, “I’m 26, so right now is the age to push ahead and focus on that — on yourself.” The dancer revealed that she has been putting her energy into her “work” and “passions.”
Komyshan, who dated Elgort, 28, for nearly a decade after meeting at LaGuardia High School in New York City in 2012, said that she is now seeking “inspiration” in a potential future companion.

Elgort and Komyshan first met in high school and started dating, and there have been rumors about their breakup for a long time. The last time they were seen together in public was in November 2021, on the red carpet for the premiere of West Side Story. This happened after the actor was accused of sexual misconduct in 2020, but he quickly denied the claim.
Ansel hinted in 2019 that he was interested in dating outside of his relationship with Violetta. This seemed to be a sign of things to come.
