Marc Mezvinsky is an American investor and managing director at TPG. He was born on December 10, 1977. He was vice chairman at Social Capital in the past.
Mezvinsky was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and he went to Friends’ Central School, a Quaker school outside of Philadelphia, and a Conservative Jewish synagogue as a child. Both of his parents used to be Democrats in the House of Representatives. Edward Mezvinsky is his father, and Marjorie Margolies is his mother. Mezvinsky has a total of 10 brothers and sisters, five of whom were adopted. His mother wrote a book called They Came to Stay about how, as a single woman, she adopted children from Korea and Vietnam.
Mezvinsky is on the board of the Pembroke College Foundation and the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases, which is a group that wants to change the future of medicine by working together and doing research that is focused on patients. Edward Mezvinsky, his dad, used to be a member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Marjorie Margolies ran for Congress twice and also ran for governor of Pennsylvania in 1998.
When Chelsea and Marc met at a political retreat in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, in 1993, they had a lot in common because they came from similar backgrounds. Both of them went on to get their master’s degrees at Stanford University and then at Oxford University. During that time, they stayed close friends.
