Adelle Lutz is an American artist, designer, and actress. She is best known for her work with clothing as a way to communicate that uses unusual materials and methods. She first got noticed for the strange “Urban Camouflage” costumes she made for the movie True Stories by David Byrne (1986).

Lutz was born in Ohio, in Lakewood, on November 13, 1948. Her mother, Mona Miwako Furuki, was from Japan and studied fashion. Her father, Walter Lutz, was an American businessman who worked in international trade. Their collection of more than 4,000 Asian bamboo works and objects is now part of the Denver Art Museum and was shown in the Walter + Mona Lutz Gallery, which Adelle helped design for the museum.
