Season 1 of Dirty John premiered on Bravo on November 25, 2018, and is an American true crime anthology television series. It’s based on the same-named podcast by Christopher Goffard.
Richard Suckle, Charles Roven, Mark Herzog, Christopher G. Cowen, and Chris Argentieri co-created the show, of which Alexandra Cunningham is also an executive producer.
The show was ordered for two seasons at first. In May 2019, it was announced that the series would be moving from Bravo to USA Network before the start of the second season.

What Happened In Season 1 Of Dirty John?
Rich interior designer Debra Newell meets and marries a doctor named John Meehan, and the Dirty John series begins with a new romance. Debra’s two kids, Jacquelyn and Terra, see something is awry.
Soon later, we learn about John’s criminal past and see flashbacks of his life. The married pair gets back on track after multiple squabbles when John pledges to stop using drugs and put his past behind — this is just one of many examples of how John used women in his life.
One of Debra’s daughters was kidnapped by John. Debra murders John by stabbing him 13 times in the last scene after comprehending what he’s done to her and her family. The plot was inspired by a true-crime story.

Debra Newell, played by Connie Britton, is a successful and wealthy interior designer. Her son is Trey (Jake Abel), and her daughters are Veronica (Juno Temple) and Terra (Terra) (Julia Garner).
Despite four failed marriages, Debra continues to use dating apps in her hunt for love. Using these applications, she meets and falls in love with a doctor named John Meehan (Eric Bana). However, John has secrets, and once Debra discovers them, her life is in jeopardy.
In Season 1 of “Dirty John,” Jean Smart plays Arlana Hart, Joelle Carter plays Denise Meehan-Shepard, and Sprague Grayden plays Tonia.
Release Date Of Dirty John Season 1
The series had its formal premiere on November 13, 2018, with a screening at NeueHouse Hollywood in Los Angeles, California.
A red-carpet arrival was planned before the screening, but it was canceled out of respect for the victims of the Woolsey Fire, which was still burning in Los Angeles and Ventura counties at the time.
The first season premiered on Netflix on February 14, 2019, and was then released in November 2019 in the United States. The first episode of Dirty John aired on 5Star in the United Kingdom on April 10, 2021.
