Rally car icon Ken Block passes away in a snowmobile accident on Monday (Jan. 2).
Ken Block, a professional rally driver and co-founder of Hoonigan and DC Shoes, died in a snowmobile accident near his home in Utah on Monday. He was 55.
Hoonigan Industries revealed Block’s death in a statement that was posted on its social media channels.
“It is with deepest regrets that we can confirm that Ken Block passed away today in a snowmobile accident,” the statement said. “Ken was a visionary, a leader, and an icon. And most importantly, a father and husband. He will be incredibly missed. Please respect the family’s privacy at this time while they grieve.”
Block went snowmobiling in Utah on Monday and even posted it on social media. According to the sheriff’s department in Wasatch County, Block’s snowmobile flipped over on a steep hill when he was riding in the Mill Hollow region. Just at the scene of the accident, Block was pronounced dead.

Lia’s first rally race was at the age of 11 years. Lia had a great start in the Lucas Off-Road Racing Series, where she drove UTVs. When she was 13, she started drifting her father’s 1978 Mk2 Ford Escort. Her dad made sure she worked out with Vaughn Gittin Jr.
Just a few hours before his death, Ken posted a photo of his daughter, Lia on his Instagram, where he talked about his 16-year-old daughter’s upcoming video of buying, tearing down, rebuilding and now driving her ‘85 Audi Ur Quattro.
