Kirstie Alley, who was best known for playing Rebecca Howe on the hit NBC sitcom “Cheers,” died of cancer. She was 71 years old.

Her children, son William “True” Stevenson, 30, and daughter Lillie Price Stevenson, 28, shared the news on their mother’s social media accounts Monday evening. The statement said that she “passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered.”

After hearing the news, John Travolta, who worked with Alley in the past, paid tribute to her on social media. He shared a snap of the late star and wrote, “Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had. I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again.”

Kirstie Louise Alley was an American actress who was born on January 12, 1951 and died on December 5, 2022. Her big break came when she played Rebecca Howe on the NBC sitcom Cheers from 1987 to 1993.
