Elvis Crespo, a Puerto Rican musician best known for his songs “Suavemente” and “Tu Sonrisa,” called Rodriguez’s voice “one of the most beautiful” he’d “heard and will hear.”
“His unique, tuned and potent timbre made his music immortal,” he continued. “My sincere condolences to his family and fans. May our Lalo Rodríguez rest in peace.”
In a statement sent to Twitter, Grammy-winning salsa band Grupo Niche referred to Rodrguez as “one of the most famous voices of salsa in the world.” They also said, “A lot of strength for his family, fans, and friends.”
