Mina Mugil Kimes is an American journalist who focuses on business and sports stories. She’s written for Fortune, Bloomberg News, and ESPN. She is a senior writer at ESPN and an analyst for NFL Live.
Kimes was born September 8, 1985, in Omaha, Nebraska. Her father was a captain in the United States Air Force. Kimes’s mother is from Korea. When Kimes was a teenager, she and her family moved to Arizona. She went to Gilbert, Arizona’s Mesquite High School. She got a Bachelor of Arts in English from Yale University in 2007 with an honors degree.
She started working for Bloomberg News in 2013 as an investigative reporter. Her profiles of business executives Doug Oberhelman of Caterpillar, in a piece called “King Kat,” and Eddie Lampert, in a piece called “The Sun Tzu at Sears,” won her the Front Page Award for business reporting.

Nick Sylvester is a music producer, writer, and musician. He is married to Mina Kimes. He used to be a music reviewer, writer, and associate editor for Pitchfork, but he left in 2006. Since then, Sylvester has become a music producer and co-founded an artist development company in Los Angeles called Godmode. He went to Harvard to study computer music and has also played in the band, Mr. Dream. He played the trumpet at weddings and bar mitzvahs as his first job in music.

They dated for several years before getting married. In 2014, they decided to tie the knot. The couple exchanged wedding vows on November 24, 2014, promising to spend the rest of their lives together. Mina wore a skin-colored off-the-shoulder dress to the wedding, and she put her hair back in a bun. Her groom looked handsome in a black tuxedo, and everyone at their wedding was impressed. They do, however, have a dog named Lenny.
