Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg is an American politician and former military officer who is currently the United States Secretary of Transportation. As a representative of the Democratic Party, he has been the 32nd mayor of South Bend, Indiana, from 2012 to 2020. This gave him the nickname “Mayor Pete.”

Buttigieg got engaged to Chasten Glezman, a middle school teacher, in a Facebook post on December 14, 2017. On June 16, 2018, they got married in a private ceremony at the Cathedral of St. James. Pete And Chasten Adopted Twins, A Son, And A Daughter
Buttigieg told the public on August 17, 2021, that he and his husband had become parents. Buttigieg said on September 4, 2021, that they had adopted two newborn fraternal twins, a son and a daughter, named Joseph August and Penelope Rose Buttigieg.
Pete made an announcement on his Instagram and posted a photo of four of them alongside the caption, “Chasten and I are beyond thankful for all the kind wishes since first sharing the news that we’re becoming parents. We are delighted to welcome Penelope Rose and Joseph August Buttigieg to our family.”

Chasten grew up in Michigan in a working-class family. He told The Washington Post that he often felt out of place with his brothers, who liked sports and hunting.
Buttigieg told his family he was gay when he was 18. He soon moved out and lived with friends and in his car. Buttigieg wrote in his memoir in 2020 that when he was 18, a friend of a friend sexually assaulted him. For years, he felt bad about what happened.
