He started playing professional baseball for the Venezuelan Summer League (VSL) Phillies when he was sixteen. Ranger pitched in three games as the team’s closer. Suárez had four strikeouts and two saves in five innings of pitching. Suárez’s season was cut short in July when he was found to have broken the rules for using drugs in Minor League Baseball (MiLB).
