A member of the 1986 national champion men’s basketball team from Louisville has been arrested and charged with strangulation.
A Louisville Metro Police arrest citation says that Robbie Valentine, who is 59 years old, choked his girlfriend during a fight at their home. He went to court for the first time on Friday morning and said he was not guilty.
In the arrest citation, police wrote that Valentine’s girlfriend talked about leaving while the two of them were having dinner Thursday night. The citation said that when they got home, they got into a fight, and Valentine took his girlfriend’s phone and “dumped her purse out in the sink.”
“Later, (Valentine) threw her off the bed and started strangling her,” says the quote. “The victim’s neck is sore and red on the sides, and the back of her neck is bruised.” The report said that alcohol played a role in the incident.

Valentine isn’t married to anyone right now because he hasn’t shared any photos of his partner on any of his social media accounts. But he seems to have been in a relationship before and has kids with that person. His social media say that he has twin sons and a daughter.
Earlier Valentine shared a few pictures of his children when they got their degrees and some other occasions. He tweeted on May 12, 2015, “Congratulations, Aaron Valentine, on getting your college degree from Indiana University. I’m so proud of you, son.” He also keeps posting pictures of his grandsons and granddaughters on his social media accounts.

Valentine played for the Louisville team that won the national championship in 1986. He played for Louisville from 1982 to 1986. Under head coach Denny Crum, he helped the Cardinals get to the Final Four in 1982 and 1983 and win the NCAA title in 1986. In 1985 and 1986, he played with Kenny Payne, who is now the head coach at U of L.
Valentine is from Radcliff, Kentucky, and has been the senior director of sales for ASM Global since 2010. ASM Global runs the KFC Yum! Center. Reports Say that he has been running a basketball camp for city kids every summer for decades. Sandra Moran, a representative for ASM Global, told The Courier-Journal that the company can’t talk about personal matters.

Valentine was a guard and forward on the 1986 NCAA National Champion University of Louisville men’s basketball team. In 1983, the same team got to the NCAA Final Four. In 2000, he was put into the school’s Athletics Hall of Fame.
Valentine was also known for his work in the community. Every year, he put on a number of basketball camps for kids. He also works at the KFC Yum! Center, but when asked for a comment, a spokesperson said, “We can’t talk about individual employees.”
