Sheryl Lyna Leach (born Sheryl Stamps on December 31, 1952) is best known as the creator of the Barney franchise. She worked on and produced the video series Barney & The Backyard Gang and its follow-up, Barney & Friends, with co-creators Kathy Parker and Dennis DeShazer.
Leach has received many awards and honors for her work on Barney. Leach was named “Entrepreneur of the Year” by the CNBC cable network. She also won a National Freedoms Foundation award and a national humanitarian award from B’nai B’rith International. She was the first woman to win this prestigious award since Eleanor Roosevelt.
